New Church New Way March 2020

Celebrates the gifts and leadership of women Women lead new worshiping communities in the same number they pastor established PC(USA) congregations. At least a third of the communities of the 1001 movement are growing, serving and bearing witness to the love of God under the leadership of women — ministers of Word and Sacrament, ruling elders and others who are answering God’s call to use their gifts to gather women, men, children and youth to proclaim hope and grace across the country. In the PC(USA), March is a time when we celebrate the unique gifts of women in the Church. Colliding with Jesus Willow Weston, the founder and director of a 1001 new worshiping community in Bellingham, Washington, remembers the day Collide began. Someone who had wounded her when she was a young girl was knocking on her door. Immediately, she ran upstairs with her baby — and hid in the closet.
