National Indigenous Spiritual Gathering to Meet on Traditional Algonquin Land

From July 15–19, Indigenous communities of faith from across the country will gather on traditional Algonquin territory at Carleton University in Ottawa for the National Indigenous Spiritual Gathering (NISG), the triennial gathering of the Indigenous Church in The United Church of Canada.

Under the theme "Our New Day," participants will gather for worship, ceremony, learning, and community building. A significant milestone will be the establishment of the National Indigenous Council, marking an important step in the Indigenous Church's continuing journey of self-determination. The gathering will also celebrate ministry milestones, including the ordination of Brian George.

As the gathering begins, we invite the wider church to hold all participants, leaders, Elders, and communities in prayer. Follow Indigenous Ministries and The United Church of Canada on social media throughout the week for updates, stories, and photos.

After a devastating fire and a year of rebuilding, Kamloops United Church found a new way to connect with its community through the 100 Tables initiative, part of A Place at the Table. A bright red picnic table set outside the church became a gathering place for conversation, hospitality, and stories of faith, reminding everyone that the church is more than a building. Read the new blog and learn how this simple act of welcome helped strengthen community, inspire resilience, and shape a renewed vision for ministry.

At United Church camps like Cave Springs Camp, children and youth discover more than the outdoors. Away from the distractions of everyday life, they find space to connect with creation, build friendships, grow in faith, and experience a true sense of belonging.

Supported by Mission and Service, these camps help young people discover confidence, community, and God's love—gifts that stay with them long after summer ends.

Read this week's Mission and Service story and learn how your generosity helps make these life-changing experiences possible.
