New Blog! Do I Belong in Church?

After years away from church, writer Shara Cooper shares her unexpected journey back to a United Church community. She was drawn into The United Church of Canada through a simple invitation to community—and discovered a congregation committed to inclusion, decolonization, and belonging.

Following the death of her mother, Shara reflects on how her understanding of faith has evolved: that divinity exists within all of us, that church is about finding one another as much as finding God, and that we are called to care for each other.

Read Shara's moving reflection on grief, belonging, and rediscovering spiritual community in the full blog.

What happens when churches talk openly about class? Bridging Poverty and Privilege is a new CHURCHx online course developed by Bedford House that invites participants to explore how poverty, privilege, and social class shape our relationships, communities, and ministries.

Through six engaging modules, participants will examine common assumptions about helping, discover practical ways to build authentic relationships across class lines, and explore how churches can foster communities rooted in dignity, mutuality, and belonging.

Ideal for church leaders, small groups, volunteers, and anyone seeking to build stronger, more connected communities, this course is available nationally through CHURCHx.

How do we know our gifts make a difference? Rev. Won Hur reflects on the often unseen impact of ministry and generosity through the story of Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin, a school founded in 1884 by Canadian missionary Martha Cartmell.

From educating generations of young women to shaping influential leaders—including the Japanese translator of Anne of Green Gables—the school's story is a powerful reminder that seeds planted in faith can bear fruit for generations.

Read how your support of Mission and Service continues to nurture hope, justice, and global partnerships in ways that may not always be visible—but are deeply meaningful.

New to our catalogue, Radical Trust: Basic Income for Complicated Lives explores the notion that a basic income is a compassionate and dignified response to poverty and income inequality in Canada.

By approaching the subject of basic income through the voices of the unhoused, disabled, formerly incarcerated, and other marginalized people, Radical Trust makes a unique and convincing case for an economic policy that represents a huge step toward decent and dignified living for all.
