July in Montreat

News Corner

Summer is in full swing here in Montreat! If you plan to make a visit soon, we encourage you to check out our seasonal publications This Summer in Montreat and This Week in Montreat to learn about various offerings in the valley. This Summer in Montreat can be accessed on our website at any time and provides a broad overview of summer activities. Meanwhile, This Week in Montreat is delivered straight to your inbox each Friday at 3:00 pm and includes a letter from President Richard DuBose, a blog post by our summer marketing assistant, and highlights from upcoming activities. Sign up here to receive it via email.

Later this summer, we will welcome author and professor Amy-Jill Levine as part of our annual Women's Connection conference. If you would like to hear Amy-Jill's keynote and are not already signed up for the full conference, you can purchase tickets for An Evening with Amy-Jill Levine starting on July 15. Learn more.

The Art of Transitional Ministry provides specialized training for pastors and other church leaders guiding congregations through periods of change. Montreat will offer both in-person and virtual options in August for those interested in attending. Register now.

Two weeks of Montreat Youth Conference down, four more to go! If you are interested in joining us this summer, there is still time to register. Click here to sign up for emails specifically about youth conference. We'll share information about what you can expect, how to register a group, or resources to share with your congregation.

Fall Craft Week recently added a new drawing class to its lineup! Pat Brown will lead participants as they explore the world of drawing and mark making. The class will cover basic drawing techniques and concepts and will also allow time for exploring non-traditional media - like sticks or erasers! Sign up for this or another class during the retreat on our website.

We are excited to announce a new fall edition of our popular Discovering Renewal retreat! During this four-day event, participants will receive spiritual nourishment, practical education, and the opportunity to engage in various recreational activities like yoga, hiking, fly fishing, forest bathing, or crafting. This iteration will also include a special “resiliency” focus, led by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), for pastors, church leaders, and volunteers who have been walking alongside congregations in Helene-affected areas. Learn more.

Registration will open on Tuesday, July 29, at 10:00 am EDT for our annual Wee Kirk Conference. This event invites leaders of small-congregation churches for a time of specialized training, encouragement, and support. Click here to find out more.

Moore Center is open for business! During the summer, The Huckleberry is open Mon.-Fri. 8:00 am-9:00 pm, Sat. 8:00 am-3:00 pm, and is closed on Sunday. View the menu here. Meanwhile, The Montreat Store is also open with its hours being Mon.-Sat. 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Have a question about purchasing an item? Call the store at 828.669.5298.
