PPL ENEWS
February, 2021
THE EDGE OF VIABILITY
by PPL Board Member Patricia L. June, M.D.
With the changes in the political landscape, the new administration has already taken several steps to roll back the pro-life advances made under the previous administration:
The Mexico City Policy which bars foreign organizations receiving U.S. funding from providing abortions, abortion information, or abortion referrals around the world has been reversed;
The Hyde Amendment, which restricts federal funding from supporting abortions except in instances of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother, and bars Medicaid funds from being used for abortion, is expected to be reversed;
Xavier Becerra, an abortion extremist and the over-zealous prosecutorof David Daleidein, is expected to be confirmed as Health and Human Services Secretary. There is much for the pro-life community to do in the coming years to guard against and minimize the damage of these actions
The Biden administration has committed to "codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law", to negate any attempt to restrict abortion on a state-by-state basis.
The humanity, personhood and viability of the pre-born child will remain in the forefront of the public conversation. PPL Board member Dr. Patricia L. June examines some of the latest information on viability in her article, "The Edge of Viability."
There is much confusion surrounding the ethics of the development, testing and production of the various Covid-19 vaccines. PPL Board Member Dr. Patricia L. June examines some of the basic questions in her article, "Do the New Covid Vaccines Contain Cells From Aborted Babies?"
The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) is a reliable source of information on pro-life issues. CLI has several resources to help navigate the ethical choices involved in evaluating Covid vaccines for abortion-derived contamination in development, testing or final products. CLI brings together physicians, sociologists, statisticians, and policy researchers to do both original and interpretative research on a wide range of life issues.The Charlotte Lozier Institute is committed to bringing the power of science, medicine, and research to bear in life-related policy making, media, and debates to promote a culture and polity of life.
