Together June 2026

June 2026

Welcome

Welcome to the June 2026 edition of Together, the online newsletter of The Fellowship Community. We are an evangelical, relational and missional network of churches and leaders committed to faithful ministry.

At our National Gathering in April, we announced the Leadership Pipeline Initiative to prepare 250 new pastoral leaders by 2036. Research and intuition tells us we are in a crisis in pastoral leadership in the PCUSA--we are not developing enough pastors to replace current pastors serving in PCUSA churches. Our denomination is also in a crisis of decline and aging. We believe the crisis creates a quest for a new way of recruiting, training, placing and supporting new and younger leaders. We have two dozen pastors in five teams connecting seminarians, scholarships, internships, and opportunities for collaboration with churches, institutions, and foundations. I am in conversation with seminaries and colleges about partnerships and churches that want to be part of this exciting opportunity. Be sure to read more about our initiative and respond to the survey in this newsletter so that together we can accomplish our goal.

Be in prayer June 26 to July 2 for GA227 in Milwaukee to discern and decide on important overtures and business of the church. I will be there with a team to support delegates, pray, and make connections at our TFC table at the Town Square on Community Day.

TFC and Frontier Fellowship are partnering on a pastor vision trip to Egypt this fall. I’m excited to visit key ministries in Cairo and beyond and invite you to come along. We are committed to mission partnerships that help churches engage with what God is doing all over the world.

Finally, we have a fundraising partnership goal of $50,000 of new giving this summer. TFC is committed to faithful ministry in the PCUSA through relationships and initiatives designed to help you and your church flourish through gathering, equipping, and encouragement. Please take a look at our invitation to give and help us gain new individual and church partners to make TFC sustainable this year and into the future.

As always, stay connected through regional gatherings, prayer for each other, and engaging locally in your context. Check out our job board and let us know how we can support you and your ministry.

National Gathering Resources

Resources from the 2026 National Gathering have been posted to our website and YouTube channel.

Thank you to all who made the gathering a success! It was great to see so many of you, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2027!

Who's Next?

Ten years from now, who will be leading our churches?

Who will preach the gospel, shepherd congregations, plant churches, and mentor future leaders?

At TFC, we believe that answer begins today.

That's why we've committed ourselves to raising up and launching 250 pastoral leaders by 2036 while continuing to connect, encourage, and equip leaders serving across the PCUSA.

But we can't do it alone. We need the support of you and your congregation. Fill out the survey below and let us know about leaders with whom we need to connect. Let us know how you and your congregation can support this venture.

By the end of the summer, we also hope to raise $50,000 in new giving so that TFC can continue this valuable work of identifying and supporting pastoral leaders. Please join us today.

General Assembly Resources

Please commit to praying for the upcoming General Assembly.

In addition, if you are a commissioner or know someone who is, please reach out. TFC has a great GA Resource Team that can provide information, resources, and connection. You can meet up with us at the Town Square on Community Day. We will also be hosting a hospitality suite for conversation and prayer each evening at GA, June 28-July 1. Join us in the Kilbourn Room at the Hilton.

Below you will find a handout prepared by TFC Advisory Board member Scott Mann, which was shared at our National Gathering in April. We are grateful to Scott for all of his leadership regarding all things General Assembly. Please keep him and other leaders from TFC in your prayers this week.

Following General Assembly, please continue to pray, hold conversations in truth and love, and stay tuned for more from TFC.

Need

Breaking News. How often is that coming up on your phone these days? Breaking news used to be reserved for wars or catastrophes. Now it pops up when a barely-known celebrity missteps, a sports team wins a game or a politician says something ridiculous. Breaking news has become yet another way to try and grab our attention. Often we are encouraged to elevate something small to the status of gargantuan. The very term “Breaking News” has been distorted and overused so much it has lost much of its meaning.

TFC Board member Dan Baumgartner reminds of the refreshing sentiment that we need God.

Board Member Spotlight

Greetings, fellow Fellowshipers! My name is Jeff Myers, and it’s an honor to be serving my first year on the board of TFC. I am originally from southeast of Seattle. Since my mom was the church organist and my dad sang tenor in the choir, my life has always been filled with ministry and music. I studied music for my undergraduate and graduate degrees and taught music and Bible at Seattle Christian School while ministering to youth at church. I met and married another teacher at SCS—Greta—and shortly thereafter discerned a call to ordained ministry. We moved across the country to study at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where both of our daughters were born. After seminary, we were called to serve Jesus Christ in downtown San Diego. I was associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church (pastoring with Jerry Andrews) until 2023, when I was installed as lead pastor. Our girls are now 10 & 8 years old, and you can find us camping, hiking, at the beach, or in a library. Our church family has been blessed by this fellowship, and we’re eager to welcome you all to sunny California in 2027!

Welcome to the Board, Jeff! Thank you for serving TFC!
