Together August 2025

August 2025

Welcome

Welcome! July was a full month of connections, travel, and great conversations that are important for our life as The Fellowship Community.

I spent four days at the New Wilmington Mission Conference and enjoyed fellowship, teaching, worship, and meeting missionaries and speakers from literally all over the world at this 120-year-old gathering to promote and celebrate global mission. There was a time of lament for the 19 PCUSA mission co-workers and their families to grieve the loss of their positions and trust God for the next faithful steps in their callings. Other leaders were present from The Outreach Foundation, Frontier Fellowship, Antioch Partners, Bridges, and Friends of Forman to listen and discern how we can support the co-workers through our respective organizations. If you are a mission co-worker, please be sure to check the TFC Job Board for opportunities - and feel free to reach out to Andrea Hall at office@fellowship.community to let us know how we can be supportive as you search for your next call.

TFC remains committed to highlighting and lifting up our missional calling – – to be a people sent across our neighborhoods and the nations to make disciples. Two weeks ago I gathered pastors in the Los Angeles area for a lunch with Frontier Fellowship executive director Ethan Collins to learn more about what’s happening in the Persian world.

At the end of July, Amy and I took a TFC road trip to Wyoming and Montana to visit old friends and new friends to see how God is at work in Jackson Hole, WY, Missoula and Manhattan, MT, and the Yellowstone Presbytery camp Westminster Spires, which held its first ever intergenerational camp called “Limitless.” Bible studies and small groups, meals, hikes, and white-water rafting with 25 people from churches all over Montana. It’s beautiful country, and a beautiful display of the body of Christ in a variety of settings. Check out my trip pictures on Instagram at @mikemcclenahan and @thefellowshipcommunity.

In the September newsletter we will have resources to remain faithful to the examination amendments and share more stories about how God is at work through churches like yours. If we can support you through the job board, by reaching out to colleagues about getting more connected to TFC, or by praying for your ministry, please reach out to office@fellowship.community.

Don’t forget to check out our giving page, where you can support the ministry of TFC with one-time or ongoing gifts from you and your church. Thanks for your faithfulness to the gospel and enjoy these last weeks of summer!

A Modestly Profound Question

I was having coffee with a good friend, which everyone knows is the best place for conversation, when he blurted out the question: “How do I go deeper with Christ?” Now, please understand that my friend is no newcomer to faith. He has been a Jesus follower for much of his life, is sharp and grounded theologically, has experienced God’s powerful work in his life many times and has a vibrant daily faith. As you can hopefully tell, then, this was not the time to say, “Here, read this C.S. Lewis book and call me in the morning.” No, my friend is already deep in…so what would it look like for him to go deeper–how would that happen?

Former TFC Board secretary Dan Baumgartner offers guidance on how we might go deeper in our relationship with Christ.

Where We Are

One of the most requested features on our website is a map of TFC-affiliated churches. We have begun to fill this out. This map indicates the locations of TFC Board members, Advisory Board members, and other leaders and churches that participate in TFC National and Regional gatherings. This is simply a tool to help you connect with like-minded leaders and friends; a listing does not imply endorsement of the church by TFC, nor of TFC by the church.

If you’d like help in connecting with others in your area, or if you’d like to add your church to the map, reach out to us.

Find a call

TFC is committed to helping churches find compatible leaders - and vice versa! To that end, we invite you to check out the "Find a Call" page on our website, where you can see a variety of open positions throughout the country. We have received quite a few new postings recently, so be sure to stay connected!

If you would like to post a position on our site, please send us an email. All positions welcome - pastoral, administrative, mission service, etc.

We are also looking for ways to improve this feature, so please think about how we might serve best in this area and send us any ideas or feedback.
