Is Your Church Flourishing?

Is your Church Flourishing?

The Moderator is on a three-year journey to connect with the nation on big questions. With the goal of enhancing "flourishing" in church, among our leadership, and within the broader community, she is encouraging dialogue on this question of flourishing and how it could influence our future.

The Moderator's Flourishing Project has three major components: The Mod’s Book Squad, regional tours, and a Leadership School!

Is Your Church Flourishing? Free congregational workshops linked to the Moderator’s Flourishing project kick off on September 29 at The United Church in Meadowood, Winnipeg!

Spend a day with the Moderator engaging in reflection and energizing activities towards dream-oriented actions for our churches and communities. Form action plans for your church; tap into our new Call; connect to the latest in design and future thinking; and stretch our bodies, brains, and souls! Register now for the in-person Flourishing congregational workshop in Winnipeg!

Your Generosity Matters: Being There for Refugees and Migrants in Morocco

Being there for Refugee Migrants in Morocco

In the last three years, the number of refugees and asylum seekers in Morocco has more than doubled. Each person arrives there hoping for a better life for themselves and their family. In Morocco, your Mission and Service gifts support refugees and migrants by providing life-saving medication as well as blankets, food, clothes, and professional training.

Ban Ads for Gambling

Online betting for sports

Has the dramatic rise in advertisements for gambling while you are watching your favourite sports alarmed you? Are you looking for ways to respond? The Campaign to Ban Advertising for Gambling is looking for volunteers to join their effort.

You can support the recently introduced Senate Bill, S-269, An Act respecting a national framework on advertising for sports betting, on their website.

At its 36th General Council in August of 1997, The United Church of Canada passed the Gambling Advertisements resolution to “appeal to the Federal Government to restrict gambling advertisements to an extent comparable to restrictions on hard liquor and tobacco; and to request congregations and individuals of the United Church to make similar appeals to their Members of Parliament.” (United Church Commons > What We Believe and Why > Economic Justice)
