Living as an Intercultural Church Today we are delighted to share a new section on the Assembly's website full of resources to support Uniting Church congregations and communities in Living as an Intercultural Church. An Intercultural Church calls on all members, especially those of the dominant culture, to be prepared to live and act interculturally. It means bringing people of different cultures together to learn from one another, giving equal value and power to each culture and partnering in mission and ministry. Be inspired to create a brighter, more sustainable future! Watch now Season of Creation comes to a close In the final week of the Season of Creation, we hear from proud Adnyamathanha woman, theologian and Uniting Church minister Aunty Rev Dr Denise Champion. In a short video she speaks about God’s presence in the land before colonisation, and the creator Spirit that “danced across Country” at creation. Our intercultural identity: R&R with the ARU Have you heard the terms ‘multicultural’, ‘cross-cultural’ and ‘intercultural’ around the Uniting Church and wondered what they mean in our identity and history? In this second episode of R&R with the ARU, join Assembly National Consultants Rev Lindsay Cullen and Rev Dr Apwee Ting as they explore the journey we've been on since the time we declared ourselves a Multicultural Church in 1985. Celebrating the wisdom of Older Persons Join communities across the Uniting Church this Sunday 2 October (or another Sunday chosen by local communities) in marking Older Persons Sunday, an annual opportunity to celebrate the contributions of older people. Encouraging communities to take up this opportunity, Uniting Church President Rev Sharon Hollis says, "The Uniting Church’s life is enriched by its many older members who remember faithfully and watch hopefully for where God is leading, and nurture and encourage others across the generations. We give thanks for their worship, witness and service.” UnitingCare Australia has offered these worship resources which include prayers, reflections and a Service of the Word. Celebrating 110 years of Frontier Services This Monday 26 September, Frontier Services celebrated 110 years since its beginnings as the Australian Inland Mission inspired by the pioneering vision of Rev John Flynn (pictured). Frontier Services remains a companion to people in the bush, and will continue to do so, as long as there is inequity and a need for support. Check out the Anniversary edition of Frontier News which includes a pictorial timeline of this incredible history.  Empowering vulnerable communities in India Religious and caste discrimination is one of the leading causes of poverty and social exclusion in India, preventing access to basic services, education and health facilities for large sections of society. UnitingWorld supports the Church of North India’s work with vulnerable families in West Bengal and Punjab which seeks to empower marginalised communities.
